Meet Brittany Coulsting, LCMHC

Hey there! I’m Brittany and I provide online therapy to individuals located in North Carolina. I view therapy as a safe, supportive sanctuary for healing, self-discovery, and growth. Using trauma-informed care and evidence-based approaches, I serve as a guide to help uncover patterns, heal old wounds, strengthen resilience, and move toward connection, confidence, and peace as you reclaim your sense of self.
I draw from an attachment lens to explore the ways your life experiences have impacted you and shaped beliefs about yourself, relationships, and the world. Additional approaches may include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), strengths-based therapy, and other evidence-based modalities tailored to your needs.
One of my favorite parts of this work is holding space for you to come as you are and set down everything you’ve been carrying—without judgement. I am here to support you in your efforts to achieve healthy mental and emotional functioning, and I approach my involvement in your care with compassion, respect, and genuine curiosity about your experience.
Here is a little more about me to determine if we would be a good fit:
I strive to balance empathy with gentle challenge and curiosity. I care deeply about my clients, and sometimes caring means being direct in a supportive way that promotes growth—even when it involves exploring parts of yourself that may feel uncomfortable or instinctively protected.
I’m a skill builder. Therapy with me can include learning and practicing concrete skills for managing emotions, improving relationships, and coping with stress. My goal is to support meaningful, lasting change.
I’m a thoughtful listener. I listen carefully and create space for clients to feel heard and understood, while also offering feedback and guidance when it supports growth.

My Training
I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a Master of Arts in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. During my graduate studies, I also completed a Graduate Certificate in Addictions Counseling and gained clinical experience working in both mental health and substance use treatment settings.
I have over five years of clinical experience providing counseling to individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds, ages, and cultures.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT). I am fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, an evidence-based treatment used to help individuals process and heal from trauma.
How I Can Help
If you’re ready to move beyond painful patterns and create a more fulfilling life, you don’t have to do it alone. I support individuals working through betrayal and relationship trauma, anxiety, and other challenging life experiences. Together, we’ll process the past, rebuild safety and trust, and develop practical tools to help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
